Alan Place - Ghost Story Writer
A request to write a Ghost story
Years ago, I used to be asked to guest blog, on other writer's blogs; at the time, my writing had some value as my posts were the best read.
One case is the story behind this eBook. One Halloween, I was asked by an editor I knew to write a ghost story for an online special she was bringing out.
The story behind my romance - A Sailor's Love - stems from a request from another writer I used to know, who often invited me to contribute to her blog.
The original short story was only around 1,500 words to fit on the blog. After reading the post, and the comments added, my friend asked had I written a novel?
At that time, the idea of writing a story of 40, 000 words was something I considered beyond my capability, in the end, I stopped the story around 38, 000 words. The story didn't end, I stopped it after 2 1/2 years, as I thought it would not sell. I was correct. I could have gone on a lot longer, and I did consider a sequel, what is the point of a sequel when nobody has the first book?
