The Anil Kapoor Trend

The Bollywood movie I am watching tonight is Calcutta Mail featuring Anil Kapoor, and the ravishing, and talented, Rani Mukerji.

I don't hold much hope for the film; I have seen several films with Anil Kapoor in, and they left me cold. The problen is his films are like those of Salman Khan, they are abot AK /SK, the ladies in the movies have minor roles, even if they are as talented as Rani, and Raveena Tandon

Last night, I was about to watch the Bollywood movie Kathputli, when I noticed something which puzzled me in the description on the cover.

There are two names listed after the lead actor, Vyjayanthi, and Mala. I was unsure if Mala referred to the actress Mala Sinha who was one the top actresses of the time, but who was Vyjayanthi? I am not an expert on the cinema in India, and I know some actresses such as Nargis Dutt go by a singular, in Nargis's case Nargis, while other actresses such as Shammi, Shyama, and Nimmi to name a few have a single name they are recognised by, so I didn't consider it out of place. However, I thought I recognised the actress, which on re-reading the titling, I found I was correct, the actress is Vyjayanthimala.

I have come across this type of error before, namely for the actress Madhubala, who died tragically, at the age of 29 from a faulty valve in her heart. To some extent, the misnaming is excusable as there was an actress named Madhu, and another called Madhoo in Bollywood at the same time

If you read my blog, I hope some people do, you may get the impression that I think most Bollywood actresses, are attractive to me; and my view on their acting is guided by this. You would be wrong on both counts, I do NOT consider all actresses in India as attractive, and my view of their acting has no relation to this.

I have watched several actresses who I consider attractive, but their acting does nothing for me, in this category I list Shilpa Shetty, Huma Qureshi, Aishwarya Rai, and Neetu Singh.

On the other side,, I can list actreeses such as Shammi, Shubha Khote,  Nirupa Roy, Sadhana Shivdasani, and Nargis Dutt to name a few.

There is the other category, ladies I view as both attractive, and as good actresses, that is a HUGE, and growing list. 

There are a few I consider both unattractive, and mediocre actresses, but not many. I don't form an opinion until I have seen the lady.

The lady on the post is Durgha Khote who comes in the category of attractive, and a great actress of old Bollywood.

Attractive Actresses

For several years, I have considered Bollywood actress Tabu as an attractive lady; however, until recently, I did not think much of her as an actress; that has changed this week.

After viewing her in the films Kaalapani, Kuttey, and Khufiya, I am having a re-evaluation of her ability with regards to the DVDs I have of hers for sale on eBay.
