I decided not to delete the DVDs on my eBay page.

Not because I think any will sell, but because my depression is so bad I can't get the energy to do anything these days.

I wish I was like the Devdas character, alas, I am denied the ability to drink alcohol by my body.

Though the original Devdas movie left me with no good impressions, I am still looking forward to the 1955 version with Dilip Kumar.

I haven't decided what to watch tonight in Operation Hindi, my choice is not endless, most of my stock is pre-1990.I may watch a Meena Kumari film later.

Some of the films, and box sets, I decided I don't want I put on sale on eBay.

Roots

Operation Hindi has hit a snag.

From the off I knew the film, Devdas, would be a challenge, and I am being proved correct.

The story is about the caste system in India. Two lovers get separated when the young man is sent to Calcutta to be educated, on his return, he is not the man who left, he is a city person; and he finds the girl he love is married to a man much older than her.

The basis of the story is never forget your roots, as shown in the talks between two mothers, one who married for her caste (wealth), and her sister who married for love.

The one who married for caste keeps telling her sister she is better than her, to which the sister replies, "we share our mother."

I have all three copies of the film, to compare. the earliest one (shown here), I have no views on the actors as I do not a thing about them. The second version I will probably enjoy as I know the cast featured several people I enjoy watching. The new version is a 👎, I only bought this copy as it came in a double with the earlier one, which was cheaper than buying them separately; if I hadn't bought the double, I probably wouldn't have bought the new version as it has Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit in, none of who I like watching. The only person I enjoy in the cast is Smita Jaykar who plays the younger sister who married for love, not status.
