Years ago, when I posted this short story as a blog, it had over 3,000 readers in one month. That stands as my best blog to this day. The downside to such a popular post is nobody wnated to buy my eBook. This story could have been the begiining of the end for me as a writer

On the app June's Journey, I have created a chatroom called Lana's Lounge, on here I will drop some book links by my alter ego, Lana Pawcel.

Lana's person has had moments of both humour, and confusion for me. I was asked by a writer I once knew, was I male or female? This was funny as we'd been in contact for months at the time.

Lana is known for her short story, Sexual Explosions; this steamy romance, is also a true crime story, how? At the core of the story is a crime I reported while working for Bristol City Council. I reported the theft in the story, but when I left the service over a decade later, there had been no investigation into the incident, why? The majority of the staff are ex-policemen, and the link to the Freemason society allows any crime, other than Treason to be left unquestioned.

Who was Lana Pawcel?

I set up Lana's persona as a pen-name a long time ago, during a time when I wrote for a charity, and I didn't wish for this type of story to be linked to the charity.

What is coming?

I envisage the new Lana to be a writer in the Gothic mode, both of horror, and romance. I have started two stories so far in this genre, tbh, I prefer to write old-fashioned stories, they go back to a time of mystery, when writing was valued

Who was Lana Pawcel?

Last night, I was approached on Twitter by two young ladies, one of which wished me to join her on the ONLY FANS site for intimate chat.

She was not unattractive, and I have nothing against the sites, but it isn't really my thing, especially when I hardly know the lady. Yet again, I stopped her in her tracks with a simple question, which none of the ladies who approach me can answer, what do you find interesting about me?

This young lady thought she could entice me by saying she would have to buy a copy of my eBook - A Sailor'sLove - as it sounds arousing, I don't expect any sales.

The identity of the writer Lana Pawcel was a mystery for a while, and to me, a time of fun.

The fun came years ago, I was writing for a childrens charity book at the time, so to distance my different genres from being connected to my charity work, I created some pen-names, Al Place (detectives) is an obvious link. P.A. Canella - (mysteries) is another of my aliases, but the fun of writing as erotica writer Lana Pawcel came as much from the reaction of one writer I knew as from the writing.

We had been chatting online for weeks, when he asked, are you male or female, talking about Lana?

Considering he is better educated than me, we'd been chatting for some time, and my sense of humour. I was surprised he didn't catch the joke; Lana Pawcel is an anagram of my name - Alan W. Place.

Another funny moment came when a friend in Texas asked me if  would do an online interview in the guise of my character, Mark Johnson, the lead in my awardwinng eBook - The Chronicles of Mark Johnson - we did the interview, and posted it online, what amused us, everyone who read the interview thought it was me talking, not me talking as Mark Johnson. Mark and I share certain traits, but we are different in many ways, the interview was tounge-in-cheek, yet nobody saw that

Since my wife of 38 years passed away in January, 2025, several ladies have asked if I would be interested in a romance. How many were genuine, I have no idea.

I have to tell them I am not interested, it is too close to my wife's death, and her love was the love of my life, to consider another romance would not be fair to the lady.

Before going further, I should explain the identity of the writer, Lana Pawcel.

Years ago, I was connected to a chidren's charity, so to keep my outside writing seperate I used pen names, one was Lana Pawcel.There is a funny story behind the name. One writer in the USA, who I had been chatting to for months, asked was I male, or female?

As I no longer have a reputation, or other connections to consider, if I write I use my name. 

My first short story, unpublished, was written for three ladies I knew who liked my work. This story was a comedy, the story was about a writer who wished to be read, yet retain his identity. Like Lana Pawcel, the name was an anagram of mine - Ecalpnala.

By checking my online stores, you may notice a lady called Lana Pawcel selling her books on my pages, and wonder who she is?

Behind Lana is a mystery, and a case of not knowing who is writing to you.

The humour in the story comes from a time when I was in a writing site based in Germany.

I had been on the site chatting to members for several weeks, when she appeared; one of the first comments I got was are you male, or female, from a man who had been to a University, and yet had no idea who I was despite our chats.

The friends who knew me, could see the joke, Lana Pawcel is an anagram of Alan W Place. Lana was a pen name I used as I was writing for a charity at the time, I didn't want this book to get linked to our work for a children's charity.
