Each time a publisher approaches me, and says "It only costs $200 for publicity," I have to tell them, that is more than I earned in my years as a writer.

Their next comment is "All you need is the right programme to boost your visibilty, and you will be seen."

It is hard to be polite, when people assume you have the money for promotion, and you can't convince them as an Indie Writer, you can't justify the outlay.

On December 2nd, 1943, the Luftwaffe bombed the city of Bari, Italy. It was the only incident in WW2 involving chemical warfare.

Despite being advised by his supporters, Adolf Hitler was against the use of chemical warfare as he'd been a victim of Mustard gas in WW1. There is NO advantage, and great risk in using chemicals, and nuclear radiation. Neither can be controlled once released, only a total idiot would use nuclear boms, the land cannot never be used, even the "safest" elements used have a 1/2 running into thousands of years.

The incident in Bari was the result of several misunderstandings, which was compounded by a lack of knowledge available to the nursing staff.

A - The Allies had shipped Mustard gas compounds, thinking the Axis powers would use them to safeguard Italy from falling.

B - Thinking the Allies were sending more troops to bolster the fronts in Italy, they bombed what they thought were troop ships.

C - When the gas was released, the doctors had no idea what they were dealing with, one of the first things you do with a burn is cool the skin. However, using water on the chemicals in mustard gas only made things worse for the poor men, many never made it to hospital, either dying for oil in the water, or on their way to hospital suffering extensive burns.

Years ago, I began an adult romance called Wild Child, the original concept was about a lady who had some weird feelings, that her family had kept a secret from her. Though distant, she was trying to reconnect with her sisters, to try to resolve the nagging question.

I later had the idea of a story about a lady who had been in the sex trade deciding to find out who she was, and wanting to find romance as herself, rather than fullfilling the desires of others.

The trouble I have is I have the urge to write, and I have ideas about a short story, but after years of nothing, I keep asking is it worth my time to write again?

The trend for US actresses to have plastic surgery is something I abhor, if you are attractive, age makes you better as can be seen with Bollywood actress, Sharmila Tagore, who is in her 80s.

The drawback to cosmetic surgery is over time, the skin changes, but the work often doesn't alter, and can cause weird effects. The worst case scenario was an actress who had her eye shape altered to like a tiger's as her husband was fascinated by big cats.

Even before I knew the problems I have with health issues, I resolved NEVER to have plastic surgery. While there have been some wonderful operations, there have been as many terrible failures, and besides, if you like me, why would you wish me to alter, I am who I am

I am delighted to be able to view Amazon Prime, there are several series I love watching, they include Relic Hunter with Tia Carrere. This series pre-dates Tomb Raider, and in my estimation is superior.

Nikita and Ballard with Maggie Q, I am waiting for the second series of Ballard to come out later this year.

Not on Prime, but featuring another beautiful lady from Honolulu is NCIS: Hawaiʻi with Vanessa Lachey.

I have been a fan of NCIS, in all its forms since the start, but the recent revival of the Tony and Ziva, and the new revival of the NCIS  series have no interest for me as did the attempt to do NCIS Origins. It shows how little the producers know about how NCIS began, the show started as a double episode of the series J.A.G.

I feel the same for CSI. When they did the Finale show, that should have been the end, however, like many shows I can mention, producers milk the show or film dry, until it bleeds.

I am looking forward to watching Spider Noir on Amazon Prime. This may appear odd as I haven't seen many Nicholas Cage films, not by choice,I haven't seen many films: and I have not seen any of the Spiderman films. Why would I wish to see it then? I am a big fan of Film Noir movies. I have to locate a Noir with Steve Martin in that I bought some years ago, called Dead men don't wear Plaid.

The end of days has a double-meaning for me, in one sense it signifies the end of my friendship / relationship with a friend in Bristol is close (August).

Also for a while, I am giving my Tropico game a rest. I decided to play Thief for a while, as I haven't got the workings of Cities: Skylines ironed out.

Another week is almost over, and I am still not sure if my friend, Clara, lives in Bristol.

She keeps assuring me  does, she keeps saying she loves, and wishes to turn our friendship into a romantic relationship, but she keeps failing to turn up to dates she asked me for.

She admitted she had been misleading me, and has asked for forgiveness, at the back of my mind is if she has already shown me disrespect, can I truly trust her?

I would like nothing more than our wishes for a happy romance to be true, but that is something I have no control over

A short time ago, someone online asked if I was a Buddhist, as I said I wouldn't kill the spider in my room. I don't see the reason to kill an insect, especially as she stays at the top of the room, and I am on the ground.

I consider both as a compliment.

This is not an easy question for me to answer.

The answer depends lies in two parts.

First, at my age, I wouldn't propose, not only because of my wife's memory, I know shw would wish for my remaining years to be happy. At 70, I think it would be unfair on the lady, at the most I expect to live 10 years.

If a lady raised the proposition, this is a situation we would need to explore fully, again for my age, and how long my life expectancy could be. In this scenario, the choice is the lady's.

Though I didn't meet my friend in Whitchurch, Bristol, this afternoon, the walk out was pleasant, very different to Monday, when the humidity was so low I couldn't breathe.

A Fast Food Franchise on Tropico

One of my favourite sections in Tropico 5 is setting up a fast food franchise. This is a daunting task, as you require energy to provide electricity for the burger joints. The task is not easy as there is a massive area of rock across the centre of the island, which means you need a series of substations for a good electric supply.

At the beginning of the week, I took one of my weekly walks to Asda, Whitchurch, Bristol. Partially for the exercise, and partially for some food shopping.

As it was hot, I took a bottle of chilled water with me. On my return, I noticed my shoulder bag was far lighter than on the way out, I wondered why this was? Then, I realised, the ice had melted back into water.

The humidity is so high, I almost didn't make it to my house in Hartcliffe, though the walk is only 3 miles. These walks have helped my health a great deal

In the beginning, I was keen to meet Clara, has time has passed, and she keeps refusing to meet, I have grown cold, which is why I gave her an August Deadline, before I terminate the friendship.

I had given her a July deadline, but she hurt her foot, so I allowed her a little time for recovery.

I am very pleased with how my health has improved over the time I have been monitoring it using Samsung Health. In two months, I have advanced from 5,860 steps to over 7,500.

However, I now need to take a time-out, for several reasons, I found the lack of humidity in the air yesterday made breathing extremely hard for me, as I have a malformed lung.

Also, I noticed this morning, my right ankle is sore, this meansI need to take an elongated rest, to ease the tendon, or I could be housebound until August, if the tendon snapped as did my left Achilles tendon, in 2011.

Another factor is the continuing strain of my struggling friendship with a lady in Bristol, who "claims" to love me, and wish to meet me, but always fails to turn up to dates she has asked for.

For months, I have been fighting the urge to drown the sorrows of a failed friendship / relationship with a large dose of the vodka I have in my house.

I have been trying my best to meet a lady in Whitchurch, Bristol as it is not far from my home in Hartcliffe. On numerous occassions, many at HER REQUEST, I have gone to Asda to meet her, only to be told she cannot make the meeting. I had suspected she had been felling lies for a long time, last week she addmitted it. Her reason, if I am to believe it, is she didn't feel she could meet me. I said why didn't you say so, I would have understood.

Perhaps the question should not be can the friendship last, but do I wish it to last? 

After all, she showed me disrespect by not being honest, can you start a romance on that basis?

As my friendship with a lady in Bristol cools, I decided not seek romance again.

If any ladies over 50, in the Bristol area, ask to meet me, I will take their requests seriously. To me, it is obvious the lady I was supposed to be in a relationship with, has little, if any, in meeting me. The unofficial "relationship" status is her idea. She says we're in a relationship, I don't agree, as after three months, we have not met, and all I have had is a series of excuses why she couldn't turn up to dates SHE asked for.

A Business relationship, certainly, I was helping my friend with a little money.

A Romantic relationship, in her books, yes. In my books, NO.

After three months, we are still to meet, and I doubt we will, as she keeps finding excuses not to meet.

I had suspected she didn't want to meet, despite her please that she did, for several weeks. Mainly because she "claimed" her car kept needing repairs. I used to do car repairs on my car, so I know how a car works. A couple of months ago, I said I wouldn't be available for some weeks, as I needed space to think, her reaction was to plead me to return. I wasn't really in the mood at the time, but like a romantic fool, I gave her another chance, and what happened, another excuse.

Last week, she admitted, to put it politely, she had been misleading me about her reasons for not meeting. She said she didn't think the time was right for her, so I said, if you'd told me that I would have understood.

In the beginning, I put the long gaps between messages to her job, now I am not so certain, as the gaps are getting longer, even at night.

In short, I don't think this friendship will last beyond August.
