Jean Harlow

She is not what you think

Red-headed woman
To many, Jean Harlow is the original platinum blonde star of the late 1920's, but her hair was not the dazzling blonde you see in her movies. Jean was oriignally an ash-blonde. The dazzling blonde look was achieved with a daily dose on ammonia, clorox, and lux flakes.
The daily mix while not the only cause of her death, hastened her already weakend health, there were several causes which contributed to her death at the young age of 27, including blood poisoning from a massive tooth extraction she underwent as a teen, and a serious bout of influenza; but there is no doubt the ammonia burned her scalp and caused the kidney infection which killed her.
