A new Direction

 Kickstart

50+ ladies in the Bristol area
I am not seeking romance, but if there are ladies over 50, in the Bristol area seeking a male companion, I am willing to meet for a chat over a coffee, to see if we can get on. I live in Hartcliffe

Is the Friendship over?

 Actions speak Louder than Words

Inaction is Lethal
Actions speak louder than words, and nothing says "It is over," more than inaction.
It is now over 13 hours, since my "friend" who claims to live in Bristol contacted me, that speaks volumes for a lady who "claimed" to want to save our friendship, and begin a relationship with me.
I can't say I am suprised, I have been waiting for this to happen as I keep saying, "You have NOT proved to me, you live in Bristol."
I guess, when push came to shove, and she had to tell the truth, she found she had to make a move to appease me, or not turn up.
Untruths
Since March, when I found she "claimed" to live in Whitchurch, not Redcliffe, as I had thought - my mistake not an untruth - she has been making excuses each week, mostly about her car. I can't wait to hear why she hasn't been in contact, if she does contact me.
I told her, she had an August deadline, that was if we stayed in contact. I am upset, I thought we were going ahead, well I am not decieving myself, I won't seek romance, but if it comes my way, I will take it seriously if any 50+ ladies in Bristol are interested in me.

What is the difference?

 Books I have read

Books I finished reading
This is a question I get asked, "What books have read?"
My reply usually is "Do you mean read, or finished reading, as they are two different categories?"
I started to read books by Satre, Proust, Checkhov. this suprised my late friend in Seattle. She imagined me reading Hammond Innes, Alastair Maclean, and other adventure stories, which I have, but I have a wide range of books I have read including stories by Wilkie Collins, Louis L' Amour, and Douglas Adams.
Adams and L'Amour posed a question for me, the book I read was their last, and they knew they were dying, did they care what people thought of the book as they had already made their reputation?
Those are some of the writers I read, but didn't finish.

                                                       A popular myth
A popular myth is men don't read female authors, that is one of the biggest errors you can make.
I wouldn't be making an error thinking men read Agatha Christie, Kathy Reiches, J.K.Rowling, Patricia Cornwell, to name a few. I can name a few lesser-known writers I have read, I was very keen on Marianne MacDonald, until she dropped off the writing scene, I have read, and wished I hadn't Sara Paretsky. The gender of the writer has no effect on who I am reading, I read a story that interests me.

Among writer I finished their books I can add Rudyard Kipling, Sheridan Le Fanu, Edgar Allan Poe, Ted Lewis, Graham Greene, Len Deighton, Carl SaganAleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and of course Maclean, and Innes. There are others, but the list would get boring.
I wanted to consider myself like Chechov, until I read a short story by him, it was sssssoooo boring, and confolluted.
Yes, I have read Soviet writers, I also love Russian music, and opera, that does NOT make me a Communist, unlike so many who only see what the party wish you to see, in 1970 on a cruise, I saw the darker, unseen side

Alan Place - Byronic Hero

A Romantic hero with a dark side

I would agree
Many people I knew said I was akin to a Bryonic Hero, the hero with a darker side, that I think is a fair comparrison, and a great compliment.
While I wouldn't dash to a country as Lord Byron did to fight in Greece, I am known for standing my ground, which earned me the monicker, Don Quixote, on one writing site, when I stood up against the site favourites for the site not keeping to its rules, and allowing the group to dictate what happened, usually to the benefit of the few in the group.
Lady Caroline Lamb
A phrase I would definitely use to describe myself comes from Lady Caroline Lamb, when describing Lord Byron, she said "He's mad, bad, and dangerous to know."

What is the Peleton?

 Cycle Racing

Mexico leads the Peleton
Peleton is a term used in cycle racing, generally in the Tour de France, which these days does not always start in France, to depict the main body of riders. It is the hardest group to make a break from, you have no wind break, and all the riders are ready to pounce when you make your move

The Phoenix Project

 A change of Heart

Clara - my love
Two weeks ago, I gave my friend Clara, in Bristol, a warning.
I explained how I felt about our friendship relative to a grid system.
Level 1 - I believe a lot of what you say.
2 - I believe some of what you say.
3 - I believe little of what you say.
I went on to explain, after a number of cancelled dates, I consider her to be at the bottom of level 3.
Clara's reply was to plead to get back to level 1, and to reignite a passion in me that was dying.
Since then, I stopped using a ❤ to signify tenderness and use a phoenix, to signify a rising from the ashes, all is not lost, but it is not solid either
