One of the most under-rated actresses in British Cinema is Joan Sims, in my opinion. She lost her role as sex symbol of the Carry On films to the less talented Barbara Windsor, then the role of romantic interest to Dilys Laye, when she requested a break before Carry on Cruising. What did happen to Dilys Laye, after a few more light roles, she vanished, while Joan's talent kept her in acting for decades
