One-way street
Malika Gandhi
The lady above is Malika Gandhi from Mumbai, India. She was the first writer I helped to promote via my old website.
Though small, I did help a few writers achieve their goals.
Two writers gained a contract from my blurbs - a blurb is what you see on the back cover - and another writer had his sales boosted from 20 a month to over 200 books per month.
This practice did lead to a funny moment, which was ironic in its humour. I had for several months, a widget like a carousel on the blog, which I used to show the books of colleagues in the writing community.
One day, Lisa Logue wrote to me saying "I see you're not showing our books, Al." I replied, "Nice to see you noticed, Lisa, I took the carousel off the site over four months ago."
They would say they showed my eBooks, the difference was when I showed their work it was on the front page of my blog; to find my eBook, you had to go to page 8, or even further back.
If you wonder what my reward was, the answer is NOTHING, not even a thank you email. After that, I stopped advertising other writers.
