Time for A Geography Lesson

 The Awakening

India
When I began my book about India, I quickly came to the decision my knowledge of the country is lacking. I am not talking about the religion of the country, I knew there are several religions in India; I was thinking of the geography. This is because I was taught from maps used in the early 20th Century, before the partition which created Pakistan in 1948, and the war which created Bangladesh from the Punjab region in the 1970's

In my story I mention Hyderabad, the city I was thinking of is now in Pakistan, I didn't realise there is a city with the same name in central India.

I have a Bible which is at least 125 years old, I think this because it is leather-bound, and mentioned the area around Syria as The Levant, a term not in use (generally) since the French left in 1924.

Another area is Yugoslavia, the country still exists, but not as I was taught, again it was split by religious wars; so the country I knew is no longer in existence.
