Bryn Terfel
Welsh National Opera
If you are wondering have I seen an opera, the answer is yes.
A few months before I got married I saw Lucia di Lammermoor performed by the Welsh National Opera, in Bristol.
Among the cast was a young Welshman who had come second in the Cardiff Singer of the World the previous year, his name is Bryn Terfel.
I wanted to see the Ring Cycle in Bayreuth, Germany, it would be easier getting a trip to Mars than getting tickets to that festival. You need to book about 10 years ahead, who is to say who will be preforming, or if you'd be alive then?
At this time, the world of opera was a two-faced as Bollywood is sexist to this day. American singer Deborah Voigt lost a contract for being a few pounds overweight, yet Luciano Pavarotti could perform as Alfredo in La Boheme, any man less like a starving artist is hard to imagine.
Then, there were several operas I would have liked to see, now, it would be hard for me to sit through one; not because I don't enjoy them, but I can't sit for long as my back hurts
