She won
Jealousy is self-destructive
In 2012, the eBook above earned an award; this award lead to many of the people I chatted to turning against me, why?
For months, I had to read about book signings, contracts, offers to write, and more; yet, when I earned an award all went quiet as I had not been on a course, or had any higher education, all I had was a vivid imagination and the ability to write an engrossing story.
The award lead to one writer on the site going online to trash my work, she got her victory - of sorts - in the years since the story has not sold.
Part of the story goes back beyond the time of the award. She was part of a group who continually tried to belittle my writing openly n the site - despite this being against the site rules - when you are the site sweetheart you can do what you please.
That year, there were several writing contests held, one was by a friend of the person wo tried to ridicule me. I decided not to enter, I knew her tactics too well; win at any cost which included copy/paste of other writer's stories. I had already pointed this out on LinkedIn when she claimed a victory online.
I was coaxed to enter the contests by my friends, who later deserted me. I knew the other lady would invite her group, and friends to watch what she thought would be my public humiliation.
Most of the other writers on the site agreed I was the better writer. but I never bragged about this which made me more popular than the group who constantly attacked my writing.
Come the time of the contests, I beat the lady three times in a year; it is hard to ridicule someone as a bad writer, when they have beaten you three times in a year.
I did consider returning to the site to tell others, but changed my mind for two reasons. It isn't my way to boast, and there was no point in telling people on the site, all her friends had witnessed her humiliation, that was my only solace for her trashing my eBook.
