A.P. Herbert's Misleading cases
Roy Dotrice
To my delight, I have found another book for my collection which i have been searching for.
This could be classed as a Comedy of Errors, as the Prosecuting Council had a trying time attempting to win his cases.
The stories by A.P.Herbert feature Roy Dotrice as pensioner Albert Haddock who regularly broke the law, but won his case, how?
Albert broke the law, but won his cases as he knew the law so well, he knew the old laws had not been repealed, so were technically valid, much like the law requiring London cabbies to carry a bale of hay, even though there are no horses on the roads.
The cast
Judge - Alastair Sim
Prosecuting Council - Thorley Walters
Albert Haddock - Roy Dotrice
After the third case, you could see the resignation, and frustration on the face of the prosecutor, knowing he was fighting against a man who knew more about the law than he did. But, he was paid to fight the case, though he knew he'd lost before he began.
