What a change
The biggest change that happened when I became an award winning writer in 2012, was how people I was chatting saw me.
For months, I had to endure reading of their contracts, books doing well, and the next book in the series; then I earned an award, and became a pariah, Mostly, I think this was because they had been to college, passed courses, and all I had was a good imagination, and the ability to write engrossing stories.
How I changed
I won't deny I cahnged, but not in the way some award winners do; I became more aware of the flaws I have. I thought more would be expected of me, and would I let people down after the award. I need not have worried, nothing happend.
At the time, I was in contact with several writers, and we agreed, you can earn as many awards as you want, they don't matter unless it is a major award such as the Booker Prize.
