There is a discussion in the world of science about could crabs could have eaten Amelia Earhart, as her body was found on an island inhabited by crabs that can crack a coconut?

In my mind, there is no question, yes they could.

Another question is how did they get there?

It is not impossible to think they got there by floating on a coconut, the buts have shown to be able to float for weeks before sinking. Given the tidal flows, and the relatively short distance from Christmas Island which has a HUGE crab invasion each year, I think it is not too far-fetched to think the crabs did find their way to the island.

In the 1970's there was a book written about a crab invasion, people considered it one of the trend of natural disaster movies, and paid little attention to it, now it is not science-fiction, but science with the King Crab invasion off the coast of Norway.
