The Crime I reported

 Sexual Explosions

Freemasons
Though the theme of my short story is romance, the core of the story is about a man reporting a crime which goes unsolved.
The story is based on an event I reported while working for Bristol City Council.
I was cleaning a case on the groind floor, and noticed a Roman figurine was missing. I was not too suspicious, at first as curators sometimes removed items, and forgot to leave a note.
So, I had a talk with my friend, David Dawson, the head of the archeology department, when I saw him, and he told me he had no idea what had happened.
I knew he would raise the topic at the next head of department meeting, so, I left it in his hands,
13 years later, when I left, the crime had not been solved.
I can never prove it, I think the Freemasons covered the crime up. The Police element in the museum are ruthless, and the ethos of the Freemasons is to cover any crime, othe than Treason.
I think reporting the crime was a major reason I never got the promotion everyone thought was mine. If I had been promoted, I would have atteneded security meetings each month, and my questions on this matter would have been recoreded, which would have been an embaraasment for my boss.
