My vacation list
A walk on the wild side
Most people have a list of places they would like to visit, I am no exception, though my list has changed, mainly for health issues.
My list has changed radically.
I used to wish to visit Israel, mainly to see Massada, not for religious reasons, I am interested in the fort as I am interested in military history. I have crossed Isreal off my list recently.
India has always been on my list, my father served there in 1948, at the time of the partition which formed Pakistan.
I am not bothered that I have lost track of the location of my passport, there are so many places in the UK I would like to see.
Not far from where I live in Hartcliffe, Bristol, is the Avebury stone circle, a venue my late wife always wished to see. There are several stone circles in this area worth a visit. I have always wished to revisit Slimbridge, but without a car, it is almost impossible. The best time to visit is in October, when the swans return for the winter.
I have wished to visit both Warwick and Worcester for years.
There are some places I wish NOT to visit again, such as Bath, Stonehenge, and Swindon.
My ideal day, would be walking in the woods with the lady I love, and feeling the wind in my face. For many reasons, I am not a beach person, I would rather visit a museum, even though I worked in them for 15 years, than spend a day on the beach. Don't get me wrong, I love to walk on the beach, but I couldn't spend the day there.
