Alan Place - Short Story Writer
For many years, I was an acclaimed short story writer, several earned awards, not that they earned me any money, and little more than scant praise. I did enter the Bristol Short Story Award once, that was long ago, and I withdrew my story once I saw who the judges were, two Asian writers, and a young lady looking for romance writers. At the time, none of those came close to what I was writing, things have changed, now I have no reputation behind me.
I was chatting to other writers at the time, also award winners, and we agreed, unless you earn a major award, they mean nothing. The most I can hope for is for my story to go in an another anthology
