 The mystery I had with Marlene Dietrich this time is what did I do with a film from a 6-dvd collection featuring her?

The movie is Destry Rides Again, with James Stewart.

I haven't thrown it out, it is misplaced by a mixed-up pensioner, I know it will turn up soon. I had the film in my hand last week, so I know it is in the house

The film has turned up while I was looking for my spectacles 😌😌

A Foreign Affair

The film A Foreign Affair was ruined for me, by the appearance of Jean Arthur. Her performance was so feeble, it was sickening, this could have been a good film about the black market in Germany after WW2, but it turned into a rom-com as soon as JA entered.

As you would expect Marlene Dietrich was in superb form as a nightclub singer having an affair with an American officer. Miss Arthut complained she kept being upstaged by Marlene, it would be hard NOT to upstage her, even if you didn't try.

Let us view the scene, Jean Arthur was a moderately respected actress in the USA, few people can recall her films without Google, even then she is recalled as appearing with somebody. Marlene Dietrich is a name few movie watchers of the 40s - 60s can recall with ease.
