 A few Surprises

Which are my Favourites?

I wish to clear a point before I go further, this is an article about books I have read, not ones I finished.

One of my friends was slighly surprised to know I started to read a book by Jean Paul Sartre, I admit he is not my usual style, yet, I had always wished to read one of his books; a BIG error.

The story started well, with the leading character being given a stamp sent during the Spanish Civil War, and considering fighting in the war. After that, it became a series of thoughts on why people take decisions.

I have started books by several writers which I never finished.

Other than Alistair MacLean, I would say Rudyard Kipling, and Ernest Hemingway are among my favourite authors.

Where Eagles Dare

Unlike the James Bond films, if I was asked which Alistair MacLean movie I lked the most, I would be hard pressed to choose. I could give you a top 3.

Where Eagles Dare. The Guns of Navarone. and Breakheart Pass. 

My least liked are Caravan to Vaccarès, and Golden Rendezvous

I read, and enjoyed most of the books too.

There is a lot of talk of who is your favourite Bond lady? For me it is always Honor Blackman.

If I was to be asked which lady I thought was best in a MacLean movie, it would come between Irene Papas The Guns of Navarone, and Ingrid Pitt (Where Eagles Dare)

Which are my Favourites? 

Thunderball

A question often asked on sites like Facebook is which is your favourite James Bond movie?

I admit, I haven't seen them all, I stopped watching after Moonraker as the gadgets were taking over from the story, of the ones I did see the choice is Thunderball.

In recent months, I have looked back at the movies, and thought why did I watch these?

If you were to ask which I disliked the most, I couldn't tell you, in my opinion most were weak plots with weak characters, even Dr. No, one of the earlier one, had a weak villain, and don't get me on the subject of Ursula Andress. If I had to choose, I would say Diamonds are Forever
