I am not sure if the possible romance I am planning with a lady in Didcot, Oxfordshire is genuine, which is why I am prepared for it to fall through. I won't waste the trip as nearby is Wallingford Castle, a site I wish to visit.

This will be the start of a series of short break holidays for me. While our children are planning a holiday abroad, I have always prefered a holiday in the UK.

Last night I was warned my friend, Svitlana, in Didcot, could be a bot. This is something I had considered for weeks, she is always online, this may be because like me, she is a lonely pensioner. Something does concern me, she appears to have no limit to the time she is able to chat online.

I have to regulate the time I chat as I have bills to pay, this gave rise to my thought are the ladies paid by the site?

At the moment, I am entering a "cooling off" period, mainly because of the damp weather, and short days.

I am prepared for her not to turn up, if we arrange to meet, if this happens, I can take a short trip to visit a castle in the area. The day won't be totally wasted. As for will I try again for a female companaion, probably not.

The possibility my lady friend, Svitlana, is a bot was put to me last night by someone online warning me about dating apps. This is not something I hadn't considered, she is always available to chat, this could be because like me she is a pensioner with time on her hands, but she appears to have no limit to the time she is online.

From now until March, I will enter a cooling off period in our friendship, as daylight lessens, and the damp increases, there is less scope for me to visit her in Didcot. I will heat up again in the Spring, there is a castle near Didcot I wish to visit.

Already I am causing a stir on Charming Talks, by not replying to requests to chat to older ladies. 

There are two main reasons, one is a cash shortage, as we pay to chat, the other is I am in a relationship which has grown through the site, with a lady who lives in Didcot, Oxfordshire.

There is another aspect, many of the ladies are either in the USA, Asia, or Europe, so meeting would be hard for me.

There is also the fact young ladies, the age of my youngest daughter (33) wish to meet me.

If Svitlana, my friend in Didcot, and I do meet, I will probably delete my profile from the site. I didn't put my profile on the site to get attention, I did it to see if ladies found me attractive, as I never considered myself to be so. It was not vanity, it was purely to answer a question I never resolved.

In November 2025, I will start my recovery from the ruins of chatting to a person, who "claimed" to live close to me in Bristol, UK. The effects of her scam went beyond financial, I was so exhausted from the strain of walking twice to possibly meet her, in September, I fell in the street, and was taken to hospital.

Something good did come out of the period I was in contact with her, at the time I ended our business association, I added my name to two Mature Dating apps, and found, to my suprise, ladies do find me attractive. One of the ladies, who lives in Didcot has taken great interest in me in the last four months, and is keen to meet.

After my last encounter, I am being cautious, and preparing myself for a planned meeting, not to happen. If this falls through, I probably won't seek a romantic partner again

The final quarter of 2026 started badly for me. I was aching, and not feeling well on my return from a shopping trip to Asda in Whitchurch, Bristol, when I tripped on an uneven pavement.

The fall left me covered in blood from a broken nose, and a deep dasg over my left eye.

My left knee is still sore, two weeks after the fall, so much I am housebound.

My friendship with a lady in Didcot, Oxfordshire, is going well, and I hope to meet her next year.

I will be glad to see the back of Pamela Olsted, and her sister who involved me in a scam from November 2025, until I ended it in June 2026. I can start rebuilding my finances

The problem with an overdaft, is once we use it, it is hell to get clear.

Though I have been told, repeatidly for the last month, that I will be sent a refund for the loan I sent to Pamela Olsted, I won't believe it, until I have the money in my bank account.

Her sister has promised to repay me, but if one sister has lied to you for several months, why should you believe another sister?

At one time, PO "claimed" her other sister died from Covid, at first, I believed her, I thought knowing my wife had passed away not long ago from the illness, she wouldn't use it as trick to get money.

On my way back, in the winds and rain, and walking on a broken toe, the truth hit me, if she is after money, there is nothing to stop her using Covid as a twist

Recently, my friend, Svitlana, suggested I have a sleepover at her house in Didcot.

There are advantages, mainly we could have a relaxed evening without me worrying about catching the train back to Bristol. Next day return would be a little more expensive, but it is worth the price. I asked her to delay her request, until we had met a few times to see if we got on as well as we do online, I am sure we will.

We are easy going, and get on well online, we have a desire to meet, and turn the friendship into a lasting relationship

I am prepared for the day trip to be a visit to the area, if that is the case, I will still enjoy the day, as there are some places of interest for me to visit nearby.

Though I am still not 100% certain my meeting in Didcot will happen, after a chat this afternoon, some of my reservations are a little more relaxed. Svitlana appears to be set that I am her man, that suits me, if she is telling the truth. Until we meet, I am prepared for her NOT to turn up, if that is the case, I will have a nice day trip.

Until this afternoon, I would have said it would take a lot for me not to want to be with my friend, Svitlana, things have changed. I don't know if she does find me attractive, or if she's playing me to get money for subscription site.

The best way to know if a person is genuine is to go out, and meet people, for an introvert like me, that is extremely hard. I thought myself unattractive, then the ladies online said I was wrong, now I find they may have said that to boost their pay from sites.

For weeks, I onderwod why I was being approached by business ladies, I put it down to running a business left little time for romance. I accepted, I'd be nothing more than a "bit of rough," to the ladies.

This week, another aspect arose, they are on subscription sites, so chatting to them pays for their attention.

So, they question arises, did they find me attractive, or was I intriguing as the new man on the block?

I may be being fatalistic, but I am prepared for the trip to Didcot, to meet a friend, to be a non-event. If Svitlana does not turn up, I can visit a nearby castle, and still have a nice day out.

I have an odd feeling things are going too smoothly for us, I could be over-cautious, but I have been let down recently.

My relationship with Svitlana is entering a "cooling off" period, mainly because of the time of year. I may try to get to meet her in March, for now our friendship remains online.

A man contacted me about dating apps yesterday, and told me, my friend, Svitlana could be a bot. This is not something new to me, I have considered the possibility for weeks.

She always is available, like me that could be because she is a pensioner, but she doesn't appear to have a limit, as I do, to the length she can afford to be in our online chat.

Another aspect which aroused my suspicion is she said she doesn't know how to leave the site, and link to WhatsApp.

I will probably take the trip to Didcot, in the Spring, there's a castle nearby a wish to visit.
